Planning a digital move without breaking what already works

Website migrations are rarely just about moving a website from one platform to another.

Behind the website there can be hosting, domains, booking software, backups, social channels and other connected systems that all need to keep working.

The project

The goal was to plan a migration from the existing digital setup to a new website and hosting environment while keeping the different parts of the business connected.

Before making changes, I mapped out what already existed and what needed to move.

The takeaway

A successful migration starts before anything gets moved.

Understanding the existing setup, identifying dependencies and planning the transition first makes it much easier to move forward without losing important functionality along the way.
